BarCamp report part 2 — Openness is good

Posted in Technology and Software by nimad on June 24, 2006

We started BarCamp San Francisco lat night with a nice reception/party at Microsoft's San Francisco office right across the Ferry Building at historic Landmark Building on One Market.  About 100 geeks showed up.  We enjoyed exotic refreshments such as Stormhoek wine shipped directly from South Africa for our pleasure to nachos, chips, red vines, and popcorn.  Some folks coming in from BloggerCon brought leftover Chinese takeout that added that extra oomf to our table.  I met with a bunch of interesting folks and learned and listened.

We had introductions that you can view at http://media.ito.com/kevinmarks/barcampintro.mov.  I was also interviewed.  I need to find out where my interview is online and link to it.  I got a lot of positive vibes form the crowd.  They are happy to see microsoft sponsoring and hosting them and interested in their thoughts, ideas, and wanting to learn aout their challenges.  I will be holding a session to get feedback from the community on how Microsoft is doing and how we can improve to serve the technology community better today at 3:50.  ITconversations will be podcasting it.
